Ganja hosted the meeting dedicated to discussion of the preparations for the events related to 220th anniversary of Azerbaijani poet and enlightener Mirza Shafi Vazeh.

The event was opened by the head of the Executive Power of Ganja Elmar Valiyev, who spoke about the importance of the Order of the President Ilham Aliyev “On conducting 220-year anniversary of Mirza Shafi Vazeh.” He stopped on the work done and future work on the eve of the anniversary events.

Chair of Ganja Branch of ANAS academician-secretary Fuad Aliyev was elected commission chair of organization that created on the work to be done for the anniversary.

It was noted that the works of Mirza Shafi Vazeh occupies unique place in the development of literary and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Europe.

That is why his works are studied on a global scale. Since the signing of the Order initiated by the city executive 256 copies of manuscripts of the poet, stored in a museum in Germany, with the aim of the study were delivered to Ganja. 11 books of the poet have been published. Museum named after Mirza Shafi Vazeh was built in the city.

Deputy Executive power of socio-political and humanitarian affairs Sevda Gurbanaliyeva, Ganja State University prof. Yusif Yusibov, rector of Azerbaijan University of Technology, prof. Akif Süleymanov, head of the city's education department Zakir Huseynov, and head of the cultural department Sanan Hajiyev were reported and drew attention the done fulfillments associated with the jubilee events.
