Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and the Hungarian Embassy in Azerbaijan held a presentation of the project "261 + 1" on the theme "Expansion of Hungarian information in Azerbaijani language Wikipedia".

Director of the library, Ph.d in medicine, Leyla Imanova highly evaluated the electronic catalog and digital database to George Hazai's personal library given by CSL, awarding CSL with Hungarian "Golden Cross" for services in development of scientific and cultural relations of both countries on the order of Hungarian President Yanos Ader, presentation of scientific journals by Hungarian Academy of Sciences to CSL.

Leyla Imanova also talked about the work of CSL "Wikipedia" Methodological Center on Hungary. She talked about the systematic work of the diplomatic mission, the scientific library, the fundamental information body, and volunteers, the creation of a multifaceted information collection, and the acquisition of new knowledge and skills by the team and volunteers in the project.

Hungarian ambassador to Azerbaijan Viktor Szederkeny said further that bilateral relations contributed to the development of Azerbaijani-Hungarian scientific and cultural ties. Ambassador specifically touched upon the project on placing 261 wiki-articles and portals on the population, traditions, geography, literature, history and cultural heritage of Hungary in the Azerbaijani-language Wikipedia.

Later, vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli praised the joint activity of the embassy and CSL in expanding bilateral scientific-cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Hungary.

I.Habibbayli spoke about the role of Hungarian scientists in the development of Turkology and the scientific relations of the institutes of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences with ANAS institutes. The vice-president of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan said that the results achieved on the basis of these relations are extremely important, and expressed confidence that multifaceted cooperation would promote the development of scientific and social-political relations between our countries.
