Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On July 11, the General Meeting of the Department of Biology and Medical Sciences was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS.

The event was attended by academician Irada Huseynova, academician-secretary of the department, academician Ahliman Amiraslanov, members of the division and the bureau, heads of scientific institutions, associate professors, academicians of ANAS.

Director of the Institute of Biophysics, Corresponding Member of ANAS Oktay Gasimov made a scientific report on "Multidisciplinary study of lung carcinoma and neurodegenerative amyloid diseases: outcomes, predictions and future trends". The scientist said that research oncology and neurodegenerative diseases are one of the prior biotibbins priorities. He noted that genetic, epigenetic, environmental, oxidative stress and other factors play an important role in these diseases, it is necessary to investigate the problems caused by multifactorial diseases and to use innovative, multidisciplinary approaches to their solution. The report focused on the research carried out in this direction, and the results and achievements were highlighted. After the discussion and questions were answered, the section decided to submit the report to the Presidium for the hearing.

Then scientific-organizational issues were considered. Partial changes have been made in the composition of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of ANAS.

At the end a number of personnel issues were considered.
