ANAS Nakhchivan Division has held a presentation ceremony of badge to Katherine Marrow, a chief of international archeological expedition of Azerbaijan and France, by the Order of Mister Vasif Talibov, the chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, dated September 24, 2018.
In advance, chairman of the division academician Ismayil Hajiyev spoke about the measures taken in the spheres of protecting, investigating and promoting our historical monuments and material-cultural heritage. Noting the historical merits of national leader Heydar Aliyev in this realm, the scientist spoke about the reserves created in accordance with the relevant orders, the funds allocated for the study of our material and cultural heritage, and the great opportunities for the protection of monuments and scientific research.
“Care for our cultural monuments, which is an indication of the ancient outlook and culture of our people, continues successfully in Nakhchivan". Employees of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology of the branch have been conducting research on various periods and problems of Nakhchivan history since 2006 with their foreign colleagues. Based on historical evidence archaeological scholars unanimously say that Nakhchivan is one of the oldest centers of human civilization and one of the earliest places of primitive urban culture. According to them, Nakhchivan, which is as old as a historic settlement, was formed 5,000 years ago, stated Ismayil Hajiyev.
Ismayil Hajiyev also spoke about the activities of the Azerbaijan-France international archaeological expedition and said that the expedition carried out in several ancient settlements of the autonomous republic, I and II Kultepe, Ovchulartepesi, Oghlangala, Duz daghi, Uchan aghil, Shorsu and other monuments.
Then, the chairman of the division handed the badge “For Merits to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” to Katherine Marrow and wished him success in his work.
Katherine Marrow expressed her gratitude to the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov for great care and attention.
In conclusion, ANAS corresponding members Veli Bakhshaliev and Fakhraddin Safarli said that employees and archaeologists always feel the state’s concern for them. Awarding Katherine Marrow with the badge “For Merits to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” is another manifestation of this concern.
