Next edition of "History of Azerbaijan Music" book presented

On September 20, Azerbaijan Composers' Union (ACU) hosted the presentation of the fourth edition of the book "History of Azerbaijani Music", prepared by Zemfira Safarova, academician, a prominent scientist and musician, chief department of the Institute of Architecture and Art of ANAS.

The event within the framework of the 11th International Uzeyir Hajibeyli Music Festival was opened by the chairman of the ACU, People's Artist, corresponding member of ANAS Firangiz Alizadeh. She highlighted the importance of the book for our music community. This book, which is a product of the collaborative work of a group of the Institute of Architecture and Art, addresses the issues of creativity of our composers, analyzing and exploring the overall picture of that era, she added.

It was stressed out that, the works of these composers, who studied in the class of Gara Garayev, Jovdat Hajiyev and other prominent composers, also marked the emergence of new genres and forms along with the development of opera, ballet, symphony, quanta-oratory, vocal-instrumental and other genres. Each volume has a separate chapter dedicated to each composer's creativity, and their creative portraits are based on the chronology of their birth.

Later on, academician Teymur Kerimli, academic secretary of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences of ANAS, spoke about the care and attention given to science, culture and art figures in our country and on the 11th Uzeyir Hajibayli International Music Festival in our country.

Director of the Institute of Architecture and Art, corresponding member of ANAS Artegin Salamzade, Professor Tariyel Mammadov, Secretary of the Composers' Union, Professor Zemfira Gafarova and others shared their views on the book and talked about the scientific importance of the publication.

Then the event continued with artistic part.

Finally, the book's scientific editor, academician Zemfira Safarova, spoke about the fruition of the research work and thanked to the organizers and participants of the event.
