Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The 63rd Annual Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference is being held from 16 to 20 September 2019 at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) in Vienna, Austria.

Representatives of the AR Ministry of Emergency Situations, AR Ministry of Foreign Affairs, AR Ministry of Agriculture, Acting Director of the Institute of Biophysics, correspondent member of ANAS Oktay Gasimov, Director of the Institute of Radiation Problems, correspondent member of ANAS Ogtay Samadov and Chairman of the National Nuclear Research Center, academician Adil Garibov attended the event.

Speaking at the conference, the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Lieutenant General Faig Taghizadeh commended the collaboration between the IAEA and our country.

During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Turkish colleagues and IAEA Departments of technical cooperation, nuclear and radiation safety.

At the General Conference, it was decided to establish cooperation between the IAEA Department of Nuclear Safety and ANAS Institute of Radiation Problems.

During the conference, O.Gasimov attended the scientific forum on “Cancer Controls and the Way Forward”. He met with experts in the field of radiation biology of the IAEA Oleg Belyakov and Kamil Akbarov in order to establish joint research in the future.

It should be noted that, the session brings together high-ranking delegations from more than 170 IAEA member countries to promote nuclear safety, radiation safety and the peaceful application of nuclear energy.
