"Gender equality, labor rights and science" conference held

A conference on "Gender equality, labor rights and science" was organized by the Free Trade Union (FTU) and the Women's Council of ANAS.

The event was attended by the chairmen of trade unions of scientific institutions, as well as women's councils. Opening the conference, chairman of the FTU, Dr. Law Professor Habil Gurbanov said that our country has always paid special attention to issues of gender equality and women's rights. He noted that the equality of men and women is clearly reflected in the Constitution of the country. Saying that women play an active role in the life of ANAS, Habil Gurbanov said that the Women's Council was set up in the Academy in 2018 and serious work was done in a short time.

Later on, academician Nargiz Akhundova academician-secretary of the Division of Social Sciences of ANAS, noted that significant work has been done to promote gender equality in Azerbaijan in recent years.

N. Akhundova recalled that Azerbaijan cooperates with the United Nations, the Council of Europe and other international organizations on gender issues and reminded that since 2006 the State Committee on Family, Women and Children has been operating in our country. The academician stressed out that, today  Azerbaijani woman is represented in the higher structures of our state and plays an active role in the social, political and economic development of the republic.

Then, chairman of the Women's Council, Dr. Philosophy Professor Rena Mirzazadeh spoke about the role and activity of women in the scientific and public life of ANAS.

Finally, PhD in Philosophy Makhruh Najafli delivered a lecture on “Gender scenery of Azerbaijan science” and PhD in Law Bahruz Karimov on "Women's Rights in Labor Legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan".
