Nakhchivan Division of ANAS hosted for a republican scientific conference on topic "Nakhchivan’s autonomy in history and today" devoted to the 95th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The conference was co-organized by ANAS Nakhchivan Division, Nakhchivan State University, “Nakhchivan” University, Nakhchivan Teachers’ Institute and Nakhchivan Studies Center pursuant to the Action Plan approved by the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on January 21, 2019.

Opening the event, chairman of the division academician Ismail Hajiyev spoke about the history of Nakhchivan and establishment of an autonomous republic. He said that Nakhchivan was granted the status of autonomy by the Moscow Treaty of 1921, and the treaty of Kars strengthened this status, while Nakhchivan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was declared on 9 February 1924.

Later, Ismail Hajiyev delivered a lecture entitled "Autonomy of Nakhchivan is a historic achievement." He reminded the words of national leader Heydar Aliyev: “Nakhchivan's autonomy is a historic achievement. We have to protect it.”

Rector of Nakhchivan Teachers' Institute, PhD in History, Associate Professor Elbrus Isayev delivered a lecture on "Priority directions of education development in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic during the years of independence". The reporter noted that education in the autonomous republic is being developed at the level of steady and modern requirements. The state care for education, strengthening of material-technical base and human resources in accordance with new educational technologies, implementing modern innovative projects in schools, applying of ICT in educational institutions, enriching library funds, as well as the Order of Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic 2017 on “Books that are worth reading” are steps in the education and education of future generations, he added.

Later on, Nazim Ahmadov, Professor of Nakhchivan State University Doctor of Economic Sciences delivered a lecture on "Achievement of Macro-Economic Stability in the Nineties and Start of New Phase in Nakhchivan Industry", Doctor of Philological sciences Professor Akif Imanli on “Scientific -pedagogical considerations in the background of authority history” etc.

The conference continued with sectional sessions on "History and Archeology of Nakhchivan Autonomy", "Science and Literature in the Autonomous Period", "Socio-Economic and Cultural Development during the Autonomy" and "Development of Education during the Autonomy."
