Today, Institute of Science History of ANAS carried out a scientific workshop on topic “Social-political figure of Azerbaijan and the Turkic world" devoted to a social-political figure, prominent publicist and critic, celebrate lawyer and orientalist Ahmad Bey Agaoglu’s 150th anniversary.
Director of the Institute, Doctor of History Maryam Seyidbayli spoke about the life and activities of the great thinker Ahmad Bey Agaoglu, various aspects of the national conflict, the fact that he was a scientist, a lawyer, a nationalist, defending the Turkic unity and independence.
Then, academician-secretary of the Division of Social Sciences of ANAS academician Nargiz Akhundova noted that according to the relevant order of the head of state, 150th anniversary of Ahmad Bey Agaoglu was widely celebrated.
Later, the staff of the Institute - scientific secretary, PhD in Politics assoc. prof. Zaur Aliyev delivered a lecture on "Ahmad bey Agaoglu – patriot of Difai", head department of Historiography and source study PhD in History assoc. prof. Ziyad Amrahov on “Ahmad bey Agaoglu and relations with Ataturk”, and acting head department of Science Study and Social Problems of Science Doctor of philosophical sciences Aladdin Malikov "The need for reform for Ahmad Bey Agaoglu” etc.
The lectures highlighted the close relationship of the great thinker with Ataturk, his ideological and political role in the formation of the Turkish Republic, his being the Minister of Education, and his election the MP of Turkish Milli Majlis for twice subsequently. Ahmad bey Agaoglu's unique services in the "Difai" movement against the Armenian dashnaks, which committed genocide against the Turks of Azerbaijan at the beginning of the century, Turkish-Turanian ideas and reformist position have been reflected via documents.
