Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The General Meeting of the Division of Social Sciences of ANAS was held.

In advance, attendees were acquainted with the exhibition, consisting of books and journals reflecting the achievements of the research institutions attached to the division. Vice-president of ANAS academician Isa Habibbayli academician-secretary of the division, academician Nargiz Akhundova, members of the bureau, heads and scientific secretaries of relevant scientific institutions, etc. took part in the General Meeting.

Opening the event academician Isa Habibbayli said that the activities of the Division of Social Sciences and noted that, multidisciplinary researches have been expanded recently, as well as obtained a number of scientific achievements and important results. The academician noted that it is necessary to pay special attention to increasing the number of articles published in journals with impact factor, and references to them, as well as ensuring unhindered access to international databases. Academician Isa Habibbayli stressed out that, important scientific achievements and successes of scientists will contribute to the further development of independent Azerbaijan and domestic science: “We must respond all challenges of head of state concerning Azerbaijanism and statehood, including promotion of our science”. He also underlined the significance of implementing expeditions and archaeological excavations and carrying out joint research with scientific institutions of foreign countries for promotion of our national interests and statehood beyond the country.

At the event, deputy director of the Institute of History named after A. Bakikhanov of ANAS for science Jabi Bahramov was awarded the jubilee medal "100th anniversary of the Border Guard of Azerbaijan (1919-2019)."

The lectures covering the results of research work carried out in scientific institutions of the Division of Social Sciences in 2019 were listened at the meeting. Report lectures presented in detail the important scientific results obtained in the institutes of the division and National Museum of Azerbaijan History, work done in accordance with the orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and state programs, including with the decrees and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
