Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On December 25, literary-artistic event entitled “The Sun Rising on the Horizon of Eternity” was held at the International Center of Mugam, dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the great thinker and poet of Azerbaijan, Imadaddin Nasimi.

The event, which began with a musical composition prepared on the basis of the “Sigmazam” ghazel by Nasimi performed by musician of Azerbaijani origin Sami Yusuf, was opened by the chairman of the Sabail district organization of the Women’s Society of Azerbaijan, PhD in Biology Yegana Mahmudova and chief department of Azerbaijan Writers' Union Sayman Aruz. Speakers spoke about the uniqueness of Nasimi poetry and the importance of events held as part of the "Year of Nasimi."

Then, deputy of the Milli Majlis, chairman of the Sabail district organization of the NAP, Professor Shamsaddin Hajiyev, in his speech, appreciated the announcement of 2019 as the “Year of Nasimi” in our country by order of President Ilham Aliyev as a vivid example of state concern for Nasimi’s work, as well as Azerbaijani culture, poetry and art.

The event was also attended by academician-secretary of the Division of Humanities, academician Teymur Karimli, an employee of the Institute of Literature Professor Gazanfar Pashayev, director of the Baku Branch of the Institute of Yunus Emre Jihan Ozdemir, secretary of the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan Ilgar Fehmi and People's Artist Abdul Mahmudov. In their speeches, they described Nasimi as one of the great masters of the word that the Azerbaijani people presented to the universal culture.

The event continued with an artistic part.
