A meeting dedicated prominent scientist and public figure, honored scientist, academic Valida Tutayugun’s 100th anniversary was held at the Institute of Botany.
The event was opened by the Secretary of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences, acad Ahliman Amiraslanov and he spoke about scientist’s glorious life and innovations she brought to science. Director of the Institute of Botany Valide Alizade made a speech “About corresponding member of ANAS Valide Tutayug’s scientific organizing activity”. Giving broad information about well-known scholar’s life and activity, scientist stated that, Tutayug was the author of 130 scientific works, as well as, 4 text books and 6 monographs.
Tutayug was repeatedly selected a member of Executive Committee of the Council of Ganja and Baki. In 1943 she deserved “Honor” Order, in 1941-1945 “For altruistic activity in the Great Patriotic War” medal, in 1955 “For B.Michurin’s 100th anniversary " Jubilee Medal by the decision of the Ministry of Education of the USSR, in 1974 “Honored Scientist” award.
Vice director of the Institute of Botany Eldar Novruzov made a lecture on theme “ValideTutayugun’s services in development of botany science”.
Chief of Soil Genesis Laboratory of the Institute of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, academician Maharram Babaev, director of the Institute of Genetic Resources, corresponding member of ANAS Zeynal Akbarov, head of the Department of Botany of Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, prof. Zaur Humbatov, senior research fellow at the Central Botanical Garden, Dr in bilology Karam Asadov shared memories about outstanding scholar as a capable organizer and careful leader.
