November 11, 2013 at the Main building of ANAS launched II Congress of Young Orientalists of the CIS countries on the topic of “Eastern society : tradition and modernity."

Congress, organized by the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Azerbaijan Republic (CSR), Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Oriental Studies of ANAS, Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences AND with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was attended by about 70 young researchers from 10 countries .

Wishing success to the Congress, the president Akif Alizadeh told the valuable contribution made by the Oriental Studies of Azerbaijan into the world of oriental science.

Notifying the Orientalism in Azerbaijan has an ancient history and rich tradition, academician noted that the event was attended by students of outstanding Azerbaijani scientists as Aida Imanguliyeva, Ziya Bunyadov, Rustam Aliyev, Hamid Arasli, Vasim Mammadaliyev, Abdulkarim Alizadeh and others. On 4 breakout sessions that will take place during the event, you will learn about the stages of development of Oriental Studies of Azerbaijan.

ANAS President said that the Congress along with young scientists supported by 15 well-known scientists from CIS countries.

Referring to the role of Azerbaijani orientalists in the formation and development of the Russian Orientalists, A. Alizadeh said that the establishment of these relations had great service of our outstanding scientists and Mirza Kazim Bey and Mirza Jafar Topchubashev. “I am confident that this event will make a valuable contribution to the development of the relations to be established between young scientists”, he noted.

Speaking at the Congress of the Head of the Department of Political Analysis and Information Support of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Aslanov noted that the South Caucasus is not only unites Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia, it also acts as a bridge between Europe and Asia. None of the economic and political project in the region is not realized without the participation of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan , being now one of the leaders of the South Caucasus and the world from an economic point of view, is also actively involved in ensuring the energy security of Europe.

E.Aslanov stressed that in Azerbaijan there are no problems of ethnic or national or religious conflicts. On the contrary, all year long there had been an atmosphere of tolerance.

Stating that Azerbaijan - a country that relies on his strength, director of SRC Farhad Mammadov said that we do not create any threat to its neighbors and are always ready to cooperate.

Speaking about the work the organization they represent, F. Mammadov said that the CCA has been in six years, and during this period has identified those areas that are of interest to experts in the world. Azerbaijan in its geopolitical position is an integral part of the processes taking place in Europe and Asia, as well as part of the processes taking place in the Turkic world.

Expressing his satisfaction with the fact that he was in Baku, the deputy director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Elgena Molodyakova said that the Congress is of great historical significance. Russian scientist noted that Azerbaijan has been known since ancient times for its hospitality and high scientific and cultural development.

Deputy Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences reported on the activities of the institution, cooperation with research centers in the eastern countries, noted that it was time for the signing of an agreement with the Institute of Oriental Studies named after academician Ziya Bunyadov ANAS. Saying that in 2018 the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian will celebrate the 200th anniversary, E. Molodyakova urged young orientalists an event dedicated to this important date.

The event was also attended by the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after acad. Ziya Bunyadov , Professor Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, president of the International Academy of Turkic Shakir Ibayev, director of the National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature, Professor Rafael Huseynov.

Then, the event continued with the Plenary.

The Congress continued to work in breakout sessions on “Historical research”, “Historiography and Source” and “Philology.”

The event, which will run until November 14, be held a round table on “Contribution of Azerbaijan into the world of Oriental Studies " and a presentation on “The Posters of the Soviet East , 1918-1940”.

There are also guided tours of the Congress members in Gabala and Nakhchivan.
