Academician Naila Velihanli became a guest of a video conference organized by the “Quarantined archaeologists” closed group

A videoconference was organized within the closed “Quarantined archaeologists” group, created on Facebook by employees of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, in which director of the National Museum of Azerbaijan History of ANAS academician Naila Velikhanli was a guest.

The videoconference was dedicated to the topic “The place of archaeological materials discovered during excavations in recent years in the organization of a new exhibition of the National Museum of Azerbaijan History”.

Academician N. Velikhanli spoke about the latest research conducted at the museum, works on updating and restoring exhibits, international relations and existing problems. She emphasized the importance of research conducted by Azerbaijani archaeologists for domestic and world science.

Then discussions took place.

Participants of the event spoke about the problems that exist in the field of developing the concept of storage, restoration and exhibiting of archaeological finds, equipping domestic museums with buildings and funds that meet modern world standards. It was emphasized that in connection with the regulation of museumification processes in the legislation, there is a need for consultations with state structures and the coordination of relevant proposals. The videoconference participants decided to conduct online events to discuss relevant topics, and in the future until the end of the quarantine regime.

The videoconference was attended by employees of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, National Museum of Azerbaijan History, as well as undergraduates who study in Europe with a degree in Archeology.
