Archaeologists discussed problems on archeology of Azerbaijan of the Bronze Age, Early Iron and Antique Period

Within the framework of the closed group “Archaeologists in Quarantine”, created by the ANAS Institute of Archeology and Ethnography employees on the Facebook social network, the next video conference took place.

At a video conference dedicated to the topic “Cultural and historical processes in the Caucasus in the II-I millennia BC: the influence of border regions, social structure and religious beliefs”, theoretical issues of archeology of Azerbaijan were discussed in detail.

Having exchanged views on the problems of archeology of the Middle Bronze Age, Khojaly-Gedebey culture and the ancient period, the researchers noted that in the future it is necessary to identify new research topics for a deeper study of the archeology of Azerbaijan.

The participants in the video conference emphasized that, based on the results of recent studies, a number of new topics should be studied, including changing the attitude to the study of monuments from an archaeological point of view.

During  the event, it was noted that it was necessary to develop a “Series of Radiocarbon Dates” that meets the requirements of modern archeology, to expand paleoanthropological, palynological, archaeogenetic studies, etc.

It was reported that the study of the monuments of material culture indicates that in the II-I millennia BC culturally and politically significant processes took place in Azerbaijan. The main results of the research are to obtain detailed information about the administration, the system of common religious beliefs and the priority of military affairs during this period.
