Famous journalist, a talented scientist and public figure Gulu Maharramli’s 60th anniversary celebrated at the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi of ANAS.

Anniversary meeting was opened by the director of the Institute, Professor, academician T.Hajiyev and described Gulu Maharramli as an outstanding representative of national journalism, modern media, television and art.

Lexicographer scientist, professor Oruj Musaev appraised scientist as talented linguist and stated that, Gulu Maharramli’s researches in the field of media and language laid the foundation for new direction of Azerbaijani linguistics.

Professor Ismail Mammadov, head of Lexicography Department of the Institute, touched Gulu Maharramli’s productive activity in writing the history of television and radio, study of screen-air and scientific-theoretical problems in the journalism, in the formulation of the concept of independent journalism.

Linguists - Ilhami Jafarsoy, Ilham Tahirov, Vahid Adilova, Shahlar Goyturk and Tarana Shukurova emphasized Gulu Maharramli’s rich media activity as cost-effective, scientific, educational and full of social activities, novelties.

At the end, professor G.Maharramli touched upon the problems associated with the development of language, the task of scientists in solving problems and talked about the activities of the Monitoring department he lead. He thanked the head of the institute for their attention.
