The paper titled as “Phenolic fingerprint in wild growing pomegranate fruits from Azerbaijan” co-authored by Aydan Zeynalova, researcher of Department of Plant Resources of the Institute of Botany and Deputy Director of Science of the Institute Prof. Dr. Eldar Novruzov, was published in the prestigious journal “Advances in Horticultural Science”of Italy (Number 34, 2020, 3rd issue).
The mentioned paper has been devoted to the study of the quantitative and qualitative composition of biologically active substances in the juice of wild pomegranate within a joint study with scientists from the Institute for Sustainable Plant Protection of the National Research Council of Italy(CNR-IPSP).
The results of the paper show that wild pomegranate samples grown in Azerbaijan are a promising source of biologically active metabolites and can be used as a donor in the creation of new varieties with high nutritional and medical properties in selection programs under stress.
