Regional Conference on “Protection of the Caucasian flora” within the “Regional Strategy for Plant Conservation” was held in Tbilisi, Georgia. The conference, organized by the international Council of Botanic Gardens Conservation (BGCI) and Millennium Seed Bank (MSB) of Kew Gardens, attended the representatives of three Caucasian countries, included to the international project “Protection of the Caucasian flora” BGCI and MSB. At the conference, our country was represented by ANAS Director of Institute of Botany, corresponding member of ANAS Valida Alizadeh, senior researcher of Laboratory “Rare and endangered species of plants” of ANAS Central Botanical Garden, PhD in biology Rashad Salimov, researcher of laboratory “Taxonomy of higher plants” of the Institute of Botany and coordinator of the project “The Millennium Seed Bank” Aida Dadashova. At the conference, correspondent member of ANAS Valida Alizadeh made report on “The contribution of the seed bank in the development of the National Strategy for the protection of biodiversity in Azerbaijan and the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC target 8)” and gave information on a number of activities realized in the field of conservation and sustainable use of plant biodiversity in Azerbaijan. PhD student of ANAS Institute of Botany, coordinator of the international project Aida Dadashova informed participants on stages and results received during collecting seeds of wild plants of Azerbaijan within the international project “Protection of the Caucasian Flora” Millennium Seed Bank.
