Methods for detecting and analyzing attacks in cyber physical systems have been investigated

Cyberphysical systems are used in national critical infrastructures, including industry (Industry 4.0), electricity generation and distribution, water supply and wastewater treatment, oil and gas production and supply, oil and gas pipelines, chemical and food industries, telecommunications, as well as "smart" transport systems.

Leading researcher of the Institute of Information Technologies of ANAS, Doctor of Philosophy in Technology, Associate Professor Lyudmila Sukhostat gave this information at the online scientific seminar dedicated to the International Computer Security Day on "Methods of detection and analysis of attacks in cyberphysical systems."

L.Sukhostat said that the assessment of the security of cyberphysical systems poses serious problems for manufacturers. Scientific and practical research is expanding around the world to solve cyber security problems in cyberphysical systems. The main purpose of ensuring information security in cyberphysical systems is to ensure the stability of physical processes and the continuity and sustainability of system management in the conditions of cyber threats affecting the information components of the system.

The rapporteur noted that the purpose of cyber attacks is to influence the behavior of the system using existing controls, for which the entries are manipulated (in the physical domain) or the nodes of the system (in the cyber domain) are disrupted. Traditional cyber-attacks against cyber-physical systems include "human in the middle", covert eavesdropping, surveillance, repetition, and other attacks.

L.Sukhostat also spoke about the methods developed with the application of in-depth training to detect attacks on cyberphysical systems, approaches based on the hierarchical secret Markov model for early detection of cyber attacks on cyberphysical systems based on information from system components.
