In the era of biotechnology, scientific achievements are of a dual nature. On the one hand, biotechnological advances are aimed at obtaining products that are useful to humans and solving such problems. But another point is that the source of many biological dangers today is the misuse of biotechnology. There is also a concept of biosafety in order to prevent possible global complications.
Acting Director of the Institute of Microbiology, corresponding member of ANAS Panah Muradov said that within the biological sciences, the processes that reflect the tasks related to minimizing damage to people, animals, plants and nature in general are combined under the name of biological safety. The scientist noted that before the coronavirus pandemic, the world was facing many biological threats. According to him, one of such facts is the biological safety of transboundary waters, which we have been fighting for many years.
"More than 70 percent of Azerbaijan's water is formed by transboundary waters. Transboundary water means that it originates not from the country, but from a foreign country. There is an international convention on the protection of transboundary waters. Armenia has not joined the convention," Muradov said.
