Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On January 14, 2015 was held the press conference of President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh. On the event organized by Presidium the results of the projects and reforms realized in 2014 were presented to mass media. Head of ANAS informed the participants about the reforms which are carried out last year in various spheres, expansion of research works of innovative character, rendering preference to multidisciplinary researches, integration of science and education, improvement of working conditions of employees, adjustment of communications with the lead scientific institutions of the world, and also integration of the Azerbaijani science into world scientific space. Noted, that in structure of academy the changes with the purpose to accelerate the reforms which are carried out in the organization, to strengthen relations between scientific institutions, to develop effective mechanisms for research and discuss about topical issues for research institutions were carried out. Stressing that recently in personnel preparation the preference is given to youth. Akif Alizadeh reported on the preparation of highly specialized young scientists and specialists and told about attention and support to them. Academician emphasized that is developed a number of projects aimed at improving the social welfare of scientists and informed about the “Academic City”. In order to improve the scientific activities of young scientists are sent to the world's leading research centers for doctoral studies and training, provided the participation in a number of international projects, for stimulates the activity of the young staff of ANAS, increasing their scientific potential. Last year by organization and initiative of Council of young scientists and specialists and experts a large number of significant actions was realized, the caused stir young scientists were awarded by nominal awards of ANAS. The academician Akif Alizadeh informed attendees on the level of implementation of decrees and orders, supporting the development of science and reminded about the new Charter of ANAS approved in December by President of Azerbaijan Republic and “Concepts of Development of National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan till 2020”. Academician highly appreciated activities to strengthen the regulatory framework of the documents adopted at the general meeting of ANAS, the organization of scientific activities on a new basis, to definition of the priority directions of the conducted researches, preparation of highly specialized shots, improvement of social security of research associates and modernization of scientific infrastructure. He noted that in this concept proceeding from the purposes and tasks of the Concept of development “Azerbaijan 2020: a prospection”, such important questions as definition of development of science as one of important problems of the state are reflected; the centralized management of the researches conducted in research establishments and higher educational institutions; strengthening of activity of research establishments in regions; expansion of a network of science and technology parks and other. He noted that in this concept proceeding from the purposes and tasks of Development Concept “Azerbaijan 2020: A Look into the Future”, such important questions as definition of development of science as one of important problems of the state are reflected; the centralized management of the researches conducted in research establishments and higher educational institutions; strengthening of activity of research establishments in regions; expansion of a network of science and technology parks and other. Then academician spoke about the election of members to ANAS. Reminded that as from a legal, and technical aspect elections were held according to modern requirements, innovative actions were applied to simplification of process of elections, ensuring transparency of elections and improvement of work of election commissions, the head of ANAS expressed confidence that results of elections will play an important role in strengthening of personnel potential, especially elimination of the aging tendency which is observed recently academies and attraction of youth in science. As a result of elections were elected 26th members and 50 corresponding members of ANAS. Alizadeh noted that one of the main objectives of ANAS is to inform the public as a republic and world conducted research and obtained results and application of innovative new products in production. He spoke about the productive activities carried out in this area in 2014. Thus, within the framework of the project “Recycling Dashkesan alunite ore in a new way” with the company “DetAl Holding” signed a cooperation agreement; CJSC “Azerbaijani complex for the production of steel” signed a memorandum of cooperation, which has great significance in terms of the application of science and innovation in the steel industry. Also in the field of scientific and innovative potential is of great importance in the production and packaging of Experimental Plant of lubricating oils “Solidol” and “Nigrol” is a brand of the Academy, and other products. At the press conference also addressed important issues such as the opening of new buildings of Central Scientific Library and Research Center of “Azerbaijan National Encyclopedia” of ANAS, the creation of new institutions, held in 2015 in conjunction with the Academy of the Ministry of Education Olympics World chemistry among pupils of Baku and Sumgait presentation of works on the primary design “Archaeological Park Goytapa”, elections of full members and corresponding members of ANAS. At the press conference also were raised such important questions as opening of new buildings of the Central Scientific Library and Azerbaijani National Encyclopedia Scientific Center of ANAS, creation of new institutes, carrying out in 2015 World Olympic Games for chemistry by academy together with the Ministry of Education among pupils of Baku and Sumgait, presentation of works on the primary design of " Goytapa Archaeological Park “, elections of full members and corresponding members of ANAS. At the same time, the indicator of successful policy of academy is considered the beginning of implementation of a number of the actions directed on mass promotion and promoting of science in regions, rewarding of the caused a stir scientists with nominal awards of ANAS, the social protection of scientists, organization at Academy step of a magistracy, recognition of important researches of domestic scientists abroad, the organization or participation of academy on the international actions. At a press conference Akif Alizadeh emphasized that important events last year are “Baku Festival of Science - 2014”, for the first time carried out on Southern the Caucasus, and the First congress of scientists of Azerbaijan which brought together round itself representatives of the scientific institutions functioning in the state, business and civil sectors of the republic.
