Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On February 2, 2015 ANAS Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi held the scientific session devoted to 70th anniversary of famous turkologist, literary critic, political figure Aydin Mammadov.

The event was opened by director of the institute, academician Tofig Hajiyev who spoke about the prominent scientist and talented critic A. Mammadov. T.Hajiyev noted that Mammadov was one of the scientists who study language phonetics. Having organized the first colloquium of “Kitabi-Dede Gorkud” in 1988, the scientist managed to reach strengthening of scientific and cultural ties between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

The edition of “Philological issues of Azerbaijan” magazine is also connected with his name.

Noted that working in a position of scientific secretary at the Department of Humanities of the Presidium of ANAS, Aydin Mammadov has also worked in the Institute of Linguistics department of Linguistic typology. It was noted that, scientific work of the turcologist scientist on a subject “Concordants in Turkic languages: anlaut and combination theory” is an important contribution to phonetics.

Then leading researcher of ANAS Institute of Linguistics associate professor Baba Maharramli reported on “Aydin Mammadov's linguistic views” and noted that turcologist scientist's “Concordants in Turkic languages: anlnut and combinatorics” scientific work is an important contribution to phonetics.

Chief of Staff Translation Centre Yashar Aliyev told about the scientific activity of the scientist, noted that A. Mammadov has established Translation Center in Azerbaijan for the first time: “Currently, Translation center is going to print A. Mammadov's book”.

In the event Deputy of Milli Majlis Sabir Rustamkhanli, professor Sevil Mekhdiyeva were reported.
