Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

At the Institute of Oriental Studies named after academician of ANAS Z. Buniyatov, a meeting was held between the first secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Azerbaijan, Khutaifa Z. Mahmud and the director of the institution, academician Gevkhar Bakhshaliyeva.

Speaking about the scientific, cultural ties of Azerbaijan with the Arab countries, G. Bakhshaliyeva noted the important role of orientalists in strengthening these relations.

The academician spoke about the research carried out at the institute on the history, economy of the Arab countries, the Arabic language and literature, published books, stressed that the Arab sources contain important information about the history of many peoples, including Azerbaijan.

Hutaifa Z. Mahmud highly appreciated the research carried out at the Institute of Oriental Studies in the field of Arabic studies.

Prospects of cooperation between the Institute of Oriental Studies and scientific and educational institutions of Iraq were discussed at the meeting.

They discussed mutual scientific trips, participation in conferences and opportunities for cooperation in other areas.
