“Chanaggala victory: perturbations of the First World War in 1915 and Ottoman Empire” conference was held

Main building of ANAS hosted for “Chanaggala victory: perturbations of the First World War in 1915 and Ottoman Empire” conference by organization of the Institute of Oriental Studies on May 13.

In advance, foyer of the institute demonstrated exhibition composed of books published by Institute of Oriental Studies.

Opening the conference director of the scientific venture, corresponding member of ANAS Govhar Bakhshalieva highlighted the historical significance of Chanaggala victory which proved invincibility of Turkish nation.

Then, reporting in the event vice-president of ANAS, acad. Isa Habibbayli stressed out that, Chanaggala victory is the victory not only the two brotherly nations with same origin but also all the oppressed nations. 100 years pass since Chanaggala victory which is of great heroism and military prowess. Chanaggala war went down in history as onshore and offshore wars between Ottoman Empire and allied European countries in 1915-1916. Ottoman Empire demonstrated heroism of Turkish soldiers to the whole world. 3 thousand Azerbaijanis took part in achieving this victory, he noted.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Azerbaijan Alper Joskun highlighted the deepest roots of friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Turkish nations. Pointed out that, Chanaggala victory is a glorious page of common history.

Later on, reported deputy director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, corresponding member of ANAS Shahin Mustafaev who noted that, Chanaggala victory once again showed heroic spirit of Turkish nation.

Within the event, documentary dealing with Chanaggala victory displayed as well.

In the event delivered lectures on “East policy of the huge states and Ottoman Empire in the first World War"," Role and importance of Chanaggala victory in Turkish history"," Terrorist and sabotage activities of Armenian political organizations in the Ottoman Empire in 1915 and results (Van events)" etc.
