Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On May 12, Acting President of ANAS, academician Arif Hashimov met with active and corresponding members of the Division of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences of the Academy.

The opinion is based on the case of the Academy's 27 April 2022 provincial date of the General Meeting.

Opening the event, Acting President of ANAS, academician Arif Hashimov said that meetings were held with members of a number of divisions and suggestions were voiced that could stimulate the further development of the Academy. Touching upon the importance of the meeting, which was held as a continuation of the General Meeting, the academic proposals will be summarized and put into the draft decision in the end.

The head of ANAS called on the members of the division to be active at the meeting aimed at determining the future directions of the Academy's activities and said that he was ready to listen to his proposals on the work that can be done within the framework of existing opportunities.

Then, vice-president of ANAS, academician Rasim Alguliyev noted that the purpose of the meeting was to improve the activities of ANAS, to hear proposals on reforms and to determine the future roadmap. He said that before the General Meeting of ANAS, meetings were held with the heads of scientific institutions and organizations with the participation of academician Arif Hashimov, objective problems, increasing extrabudgetary revenues, expanding innovative activities, etc. extensive discussions were held on the directions.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev said that the meeting was important and was organized on the basis of democratic principles and emphasized that any individual and collective proposals to be voiced and given in writing will be submitted to the Presidium after collecting and analyzing in detail.

Touching upon the existing problems in the activities of the National Academy of Sciences, academician Rasim Alguliyev said that, first of all, the problem is due to the organization and coordination of science management, serious problems arise in personnel issues, especially the number of employees in the Presidium office is high. He noted the existence of problems in the structure of the Presidium apparatus in general and emphasized that the attestation of employees should first be started from the Presidium apparatus.

In addition, he proposed to select the appointment to the post of general directors of scientific institutions and organizations in the future on the basis of discussion of the scientific community and from those who justified the trust.

He also said that the state order to science will support the national intellectual potential, as a result, it will reduce the dependence of our republic on abroad. He emphasized the need for a normative legal document for the purpose of identification and organization mechanism of the needs of state enterprises in science.

Academicians Javad Abdinov, Nazim Mammadov, Ali Abbasov, Adil Garibov, Fikrat Aliyev, corresponding members of ANAS Misir Mardanov, Oktay Gasimov, Islam Mustafayev, Vali Huseynov, Namig Jalilov, Afig Hasanov and Ramiz Aliguliyev touched upon the existing problems and made proposals to improve the activities of ANAS.

In conclusion, academician Arif Hashimov expressed his attitude to the proposals and brought to the attention that the proposals will be discussed at the meeting of the Presidium.
