ANAS President, academician Akif Alizadeh met with prof. Alladin Hamvieh, chief of delegation from International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), and prof. Mahendar Thudini, chief of delegation from India Crop Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT).

Guests who visited to our country with the purpose to organize and hold weekly international training entitled “Application of new generation sequencers in greenery of crops” held in the Institute of Genetic Resources greeted by academician Akif Alizadeh and he informed them on special attention shown for development of modern spheres of science in Azerbaijan, multidisciplinary researches and young scientist training.

Professor Aladdin Hamvieh expressed his gratitude to ANAS president for cordial reception and stated that it is his second visit to Baku, thus he had been here as a chief of training course organized in the aforementioned institute for modern molecular methods in 2011. He highly gauged innovations in the institute as well as in Baku in latest 3 years, including, development of science and preparation level of young staff. Moreover, after previous seminar in the institute, more than 30 papers have been published on the prestigious journals by using studied methods, he added.

Profressor Mahendar Thudi highlighted the ICRISAT as one of the international large scaled huge research and training centers in relevant spheres and stated their willingness to assist for preparation of azerbaijanian young PhD students and masters’ degree.

Attending the meeting director of the Institute of Genetic Resources, corresponding member of ANAS Zeynal Akperov put forwarded to shift Genomics lab of the institute into regional center under cooperation terms via aforementioned organizations. Acad. Akif Alizadeh appraised this idea and give tasks in the direction of even more developing of the laboratory and creating condition for long-termed working of the celebrate scientists.

The meeting discussing the possibilities of cooperation was attended by vice-president of ANAS, acad. Ibrahim Guliyev, chief of International Relations Department of the Presidium, PhD in geology-mineralogy Gulam Babayev, including delegates of the Institute of Genetic Resources.
