Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

At today's meeting of the Presidium of ANAS, we identified certain measures to fulfill the tasks arising from the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev “On some measures to improve management in the field of science and education in the Republic of Azerbaijan” dated July 28, 2022.

This was stated by the acting president of ANAS academician Arif Hashimov. The academician noted that the Decree is important from the point of view of closer integration of science and education in our country, joint processes in this area. It is known that for many years certain preparatory work has been carried out to implement such integration in the development of science and education. The bachelor's and master's degrees were allocated in the education system. If universities have a stage at which an academic degree is awarded and if a master's degree is being prepared, then they must necessarily be related to scientific research. Their management in the form of uniformity is necessary in order for it to be relevant to scientific research. Our research institutes will already directly see the integration of education in their activities. And currently, employees of our institutes are engaged in pedagogical activities in educational institutions. However, the implementation of this pedagogical activity directly with the subordinate and newly created Ministry of Science and Education and the State Agency for Science and Higher Education will contribute to further improving its effectiveness.

“The scientific community of the Academy has been waiting for this Decree for a long time. Reforms are being carried out in Azerbaijan in accordance with the requirements of the time, the position that our country occupies in the world. The update in this form made the public very happy ANAS. The National Academy of Sciences will continue its activities and as before, attention to the Academy will grow. Relying on the state and taking care of it, the academy will take an even more active part in fulfilling the tasks assigned to it. She will be more actively involved in the training of scientific personnel for our republic, the integration of science and education. We will probably see the results of this process more fully in a few years,” academician Arif Hashimov said.
