Mobile academic journey over Baku-Shamakha-Gabala route in connected with 70th anniversary of ANAS Institute of Geography named after acad. H.Aliyev was completed. 

Journey which realized by director of the institute, acad. Ramiz Mammadov aims to get acquainted region habitants with scientific achievements obtained during 70 years activity of the institute, and modern research areas, as well as to increase interest in geography. 

In advance, institute employees pilgrimaged national leader Heydar Aliyev’s monument, put flowers in front of, also museum-centers in the places they visited.

In the first meeting that taken place at Shamakha city Art Education Center with participation of region campaigners, geography teachers and students of the affiliate of Azerbaijan Teachers’ Institute in Shamakha, secondary schools and colleges, head of the region executive power Gulnisa Alakbarova spoke about importance of the geography science, congratulated institute staff and wished them successes.

Director of the museum, acad. Ramiz Mammadov informed about establishment history, structure, research areas, celebrate scientists, international ties, achieved successes, geographic research of the Caspian Sea etc. 

Later on, deputy director of the institute for academic affairs corresponding member of ANAS Elbrus Alizadeh delivered lecture on “Development prospects of natural processes in Great Caucasus and Shamakha”, Dr. Geography Zakir Eminov on “Social-economic development of Shamakha regional region” and PhD in agrarian sciences Ismayil Guliyev on “Past, present of Shamakha soil cover, and future challenges”. 

In the second day of journey meeting was held at Heydar Aliyev Center in Ismayilli city with participation of responsible employees, school directors and other region campaigners. While meeting head of the region Executive Power Mirdamet Sadigov provided information on the social-economic, demographic state of the region as well as obtained achievements in recent years.

Then, acad. R.Mammadov delivered lecture informing about past, present and future of the Institute of Geography. Scientist drew attention to the national leader Heydar Aliyev’ opinion on “Our goal is to shift the black gold into the intellectual potential" which said in the 60th anniversary celebration of ANAS and stressed out that, government always focuses on science and education. 

Afterwards, deputy director of the Institute of Geography corresponding member of ANAS E.Alizadeh, PhDs in geography – chairman of Trade Union of the institute Habil Hagverdiyev, chief of Economic geography department Nariman Pashayev, chief of Hydrology department Dr. Geography Rena Gashgay reported and made speech on designing of geography manuals for students of the secondary and highest schools, developing non-oil sector in Ismayilli region, general social-economic challenges, necessity of efficiently use of water etc.

In closing, deputy head of the region Executive Power Sevil Ahmadova expressed her gratitude to Academician R. Mammadov.
