Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A documentary film, named “The Face of Friendship” devoted to national leader Heydar Aliyev, and a book “Heydar Aliyev –Georgia” were presented at the Presidium of ANAS. The documentary film is a collaborative work of “Dalga” TV and “Era” film studio of Georgia. Isa Habibbeyli, academician, president of ANAS, Anar, chairman of the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan, Sadig Gurbanov, parliamentarian, Aflatun Amashov, editor-in-chief of “Xalq qazeti”, Shahismayil Shammadoglu, distinguished journalist, Levan Mamaladze, chairman of the Center for Strategic Studies of Georgia, members of the Presidium of ANAS, advisors of ANAS, directors of scientific institutions and organizations, chairmen of the first territorial organizations of NAP and young scientists participated at the meeting.

The meeting was opened with the speech of Isa Habibbeyli, academician, president of ANAS.

“A series of events are organized in the country and the world to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev. Today’s meeting is also dedicated to the memory of the national leader. Heydar Aliyev made incomparable contributions to ensure security and protect peace in the world. There is a unity and a peace in the Caucasus policy of the prominent figure Heydar Aliyev. National leader Heydar Aliyev is a founder of the modern and independent Azerbaijani state. He saved our republic from a difficult situation in the 90th. The national leader having vast experience in governing the state could improve the credibility of a country among the world states. President Ilham Aliyev is successfully developing the ideas of the national leader and today Azerbaijan is among the strongest countries in the world. State sovereignty has been fully restored under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the state flag of Azerbaijan is raised in all territory of the country, and 4 villages of Gazakh are returned without war. All these issues are incomparable services of President Ilham Aliyev. Azerbaijan had friendly and reliable partners due to the historical figure Heydar Aliyev and Georgia has a special place among them. The foundation of the relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev and Ex-President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze, both leaders played a crucial role in the establishment and constant protection of the idea of the “Common Caucasus House”. Our economic cooperation with mega projects such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is strengthening. It was at Heydar Aliyev’s insistence to add the word “Tbilisi” to “Baku-Ceyhan”, the name of the pipeline”- said academician Isa Habibbeyli. 

Also touching upon the scientific relations of both countries, Isa Habibbeyli highlighted the close cooperation between National Academies of Sciences of the two countries.

“Roin Metreveli, academician, president of Georgia National Academy of Sciences is a friend of the Azerbaijan nation. The Institute of Literature of ANAS named after Nizami Ganjavi and Georgian Institute of Literature named after Shota Rustaveli have close cooperation relations and “Nizami Ganjavi and Shota Rustaveli” monograph is published in Azerbaijani, Georgian, and English languages in Baku, Tbilisi and Cambridge Universities”-said Isa Habibbeyli

Isa Habibbeyli, the academician also underscored the importance of the documentary film “The Face of Friendship” and a book “Heydar Aliyev – Georgia” from the scientific point of view as the prominent Georgian scientists share their high thoughts about the National leader. 

Shahismayil Shammadoglu, distinguished journalist also made a speech at the meeting and touched upon the friendship relations of Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Levan Mamaladze, chairman of the Center for Strategic Studies of Georgia spoke about the importance of the film, the historical services of the national leader for the Azerbaijan nation and friendship relations of Heydar Aliyev with Ex-President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze.

Anar, chairman of the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan, Sadig Gurbanov, parliamentarian, Aflatun Amashov, editor-in-chief of “Xalq qazeti”, Professor Rza Mahmudov, head of the department of the Institute of Geography named after academician H. Aliyev and Ramiz Bakirov, Azerbaijani parliamentarian of the Georgian Parliament made speeches at the meeting and highly evaluated the film and the book.

The screenwriter and producer of the documentary film is Shahismayil Shammadoglu, production directors are Elnur Valizade and Georgi Toradze. The documentary film “The Face of Friendship” was presented to the guests at the end of the meeting.

Later on, Isa Habibbeyli, academician, president of ANAS presented the gifts to the guests and a commemorative photo was taken at the end.
