Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

December 14, Institute of Oriental Studies of ANAS held a scientific session on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of a prominent Turkish writer and dramatist Haldun Taner.

Speaking at the event, director of the scientific institute, corresponding member of ANAS Govhar Bakhshaliyeva stressed that one of the most prominent representatives of Turkish literature - writer, playwright, essayist, art historian Haldun Taner was the most prominent face of the literature of Turkish Republican period. Haldun Taner’s works do not lose their relevance both in terms of genre and subject. As a result of its 100th anniversary is celebrated internationally. Announcing the year of 2015 as year of Haldun Taner by TURKSOY as well as holding events to honor him play a vital role in the popularization of the writer.

Stressing the manifestation of attention, interest and respect of the Azerbaijani readers to the Haldun Taner’s creativity, G.Bakhshaliyeva noted sending 16 works from Azerbaijan to the contest of theatrical works, held in Turkey on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the writer is of striking example of this.

At the event have been listened lectures by chief department of Turkic Philology of the Institute, PhD in philology Khalida Gafgazli "Haldun Taner’s creative way”, leading researcher, PhD in philology Sadagat Gasimli "Haldun Taner’s story creativity”, junior researcher Khanum Abdullayeva "Some judgments about drama Haldun Taner" junior researcher.
