Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The regular meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was held. Declaring the event open, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh acquainted the participants with issues on the agenda. In the discussion was submitted new structure of Terminology Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic. Reminded the Order of Cabinet Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 8, 2015 in connection with the statement of new structure of the Terminological Commission, ANAS President Academician Akif Alizadeh spoke about tasks which will need to be executed. In order to ensure implementation of this order Presidium took the decision.

According to another decree of ANAS Presidium, in connection with the Order of AR Cabinet of Ministers dated December 15, 2015, was created a Commission on Elimination.

The next issue on the agenda was the question about events that will to be held by the Foundation of Knowledge under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan at ANAS Central Scientific Library.

At meeting was approved Action Plan, the heads of institutions responsible for implementation of measures were tasked to submit to the relevant departments of Academy names of persons who will make presentations on the topics contained in the plan.

Then, ANAS Vice-President, Director of Scientific Center, Academician Tofik Nagiyev spoke about holding 50-year anniversary of Azerbaijani National Encyclopedia Scientific center.

Noted that, "Azerbaijan National Encyclopedia" is a national treasure of our country, Academician Tofig Nagiyev reminded the Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated November 24, 2015 "On holding of the 50th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Encyclopedia".

In order to ensure perform the tasks, as reflected in the Presidium Order, adopted the resolution on creation of the Working group and definition of its structure.

At the meeting the sides discussed issues on making partial changes in the structure of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory of ANAS.

Also were adopted resolutions on the creation of Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory within existing staff units and through internal resources of Department of "Theoretical astrophysics and cosmology", as well as merging of departments of "Physics of the Sun" and "Physics of Solar-Terrestrial Relations" under the name "The Sun and the Physics of Solar -Terrestrial relations".

Meanwhile, Presidium adopted a resolution about sending the employees of Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory - junior researcher Rajab Ismayilli and researcher Mahir Pirguliyev to Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) and employer of ANAS Institute of Radiation Problems Nijat Mirzayev - to the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna).

At the event Academician-Secretary of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS, Academician Ahliman Amiraslanov gave information about the Nobel Laureates of 2015 in the field of biology and medical sciences.

In conclusion, at the meeting discussed some personnel issues. By decisions of the Presidium corresponding member of Mohsun Nagysoylu was appointed acting director of the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi, PhD in biology Vahid Farzaliyev - Acting Director of the Central Botanical Garden of ANAS.
