The Diploma of Foreign Membership was presented to the Academician at an extended meeting of the scientific institution.
The President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, was elected a foreign member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences (GNAS) by the decision of the General Assembly of this institution dated July 10, 2024.
To mark this event, an extended meeting of the Presidium of GNAS was organized in Tbilisi.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli, along with his Georgian colleague, the President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Academician Roin Metreveli, first visited the monument of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, in Tbilisi and laid flowers at the monument.
During his opening speech at the extended meeting, the President of GNAS, Academician Roin Metreveli praised Academician Isa Habibbeyli as a prominent literary scholar, a skilled organizer of science, and a political figure. He highlighted Isa Habibbeyli's contributions to the development of scientific relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, emphasizing his significant role in fostering scientific and literary ties between the two friendly and brotherly nations.
Following his speech, Academician Roin Metreveli presented the Diploma of Foreign Membership of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences to Academician Isa Habibbeyli.
Vice-President of GNAS, Academician Ramaz Khurodze; Academician-Secretary of the Academy, Academician Vladimer Papava; Academician-Secretary of the Department of Language, Literature, and Art, Academician Elizbar Javelidze; Former President of GNAS and Senior Advisor of the Academy, Academician Kvesitadze Giorgi; Academician-Secretary of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, Academician Vladimer Tsitsishvili; Deputy Academician-Secretary of the Department of Engineering Sciences and Information Technology, Academician Shilakadze Tamaz; Professor Irma Ratiani, Director of the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature; and Professor Maka Elbakidze, Deputy Director of the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature on scientific work, made speeches at the event.
They spoke about the multidirectional scientific creativity of the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli. His significant contributions to the development of strong scientific and literary relations between the scientific institutions of the two friendly and brotherly countries were particularly emphasized in their speeches. They expressed confidence that Academician Isa Habibbeyli, a well-known scientist and a skilled organizer of science will continue to make valuable contributions to the further development of scientific relations between ANAS and GNAS.
In his speech, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, expressed his gratitude to the President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Academician Roin Metreveli, and the members of the Presidium for electing him to the honorary rank-a foreign member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences. He said he would continue to work with determination to advance scientific relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia in various areas. Academician Isa Habibbeyli saw the election of an Azerbaijani scientist as a foreign member of GNAS as an indication of Georgia's high respect for Azerbaijani science.
With that, the extended meeting of the Presidium of GNAS concluded.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli then visited the Georgian State Museum of Art, where he met with the management of the Museum and scientists. During the meeting, they discussed mutual scientific relations and exchanged views.
The head of ANAS also visited the neighborhood of Tbilisi where the Azerbaijani live.
Then the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, accompanied by Professor Givi Abdushelishvili, visited the Museum of Modern Art in Tbilisi. The head of ANAS also toured the “Garden-Museum” in Sagarejo, Kakheti, where he met with Professor Lali Gogeliani and a group of scientists. They emphasized the importance of expanding mutual scientific relations between the scientists of the two countries.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli also visited the Pantheon, which is considered an Alley of Honor of Georgia.
