ANAS Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography held commemorative event dedicated to 26th anniversary of 20 January tragedy.

In advance, martyrs who sacrificed themselves for independence of motherland and territorial integrity have been commemorated for a minute of silence.

Director of the institute prof. Maisa Rahimova dealt with events of 20 January and stated that national leader Heydar Aliyev expressed his condemn to the Permanent Delegation of Azerbaijan to Moscow and only after his return to power these events gained the legal status.

Stressing out the state support for the families of martyrs and disabled people, M.Rahimova noted that, national leader’s policy is successfully continued by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and martyrs' families, disabled people's problems are solved at the state level as one of the important aims. By the order of state head Presidential Scholarships and aids have been allocated for families of martyrs on January 20.

Dr. History Asadulla Jafarov, PhDs in History Abuzer Alakbarov, Bahlul Ibrahimli and others told about causes, place and role of one of the bloody crimes committed against our people - January 20 event in history.
