Institute of Geology and Geophysics held next seminar “Geomechanics”

Today, Institute of Geology and Geophysics held next seminar “Geomechanics”. The seminar was held by the Decree of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences "On the research programs recommended by the Presidium of ANAS" dated February 11, 2015 in the framework of the project "The complex of theoretical and experimental studies of interdisciplinary problems of geomechanics", implemented with the joint cooperation of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Mathematics and Mechanics, Republican Seismological Survey Center, BSU Technical Yildiz University (Istanbul, Turkey).

Corresponding member of ANAS Surkhay Akbarov delivered paper on “New investigations on peculiar oscillations composite sphere of the Earth” and noted that, basic research in the field of theoretical models of the internal structure and geodynamic evolution of Earth keeps the relevance. The development of exact sciences and earth sciences, the formation by modern database technology gives a new impetus to the work carried out in this direction. Report gives a brief overview of the results of observation and scientific studies carried out in this area.

It was reported that in the existing papers were considered generally two groups of the Globe (linear elastic ball, homogeneous linear elastic mantle). S. Akbarov noted that, the equations of elastic-dynamics linear were used in the carried out works. Recently, theoretical researches of peculiar fluctuations of the Globe were conducted within more difficult real models and taking into account rotation of the Globe about its axis.

The heterogeneity of the internal structure of the Earth and impact of modern geodynamic changes were extensively studied. In the presented report is supposed that, for creation of methodology of new theoretical approach, the Globe consists of three parts (the outer layer (the crust), (middle layer (the mantle) and (inner layer (core of the earth).

The inner and outer layers are modeled by as a homogeneous elastic body, and the middle layer - as a continuous inhomogeneous body.

The numerical results were obtained by using a discrete analytical method. In summary were defined areas for further research in this direction.

The report aroused great interest on the participants.
