Report of Lankaran Regional Scientific Center (LRSC) of ANAS in 2015 was made at the regular meeting of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
A report on the results of scientific and scientific-organizational activity of the center in 2015 was made by the Director of the Scientific Center, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Farman Guliyev. He noted that the priority areas of research conducted at the institution are as follows: the study of climatic conditions with the aim of cultivating various plants in Lankaran-Astara region, determining appropriate points and mapping in conjunction with the Institute of Geography of ANAS; conducting joint research with the Research Institute of fruit-and tea-growing of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and other academic institutions for the collection of high-quality variety of fruits and vegetables in a single center, the establishment of a genetic bank of these crops; the creation and use of a centralized management model studies that are carried out in research institutions in the region; implementation of measures for the examination and evaluation of research. He added that, taking into account the high quality indicators grown under specific land and climatic conditions the fruit region of subtropical crops, vegetables and other plants, to process them in accordance with international standards and the development of advanced technologies it is necessary to organize biochemical laboratory in LRSC, conduct and coordinate basic and applied research, create a high-tech business entities, research and testing factories, as well as to achieve the interaction of science and industry.
F.Guliyev noted that in conjunction with the relevant institutions of ANAS envisaged holding gerontological research: "In addition, important from the point of view of the research work is the creation of matter in Lankaran Botanical Garden, as well as the training of highly qualified engineers, experts in the field of subtropical crop, decorative gardening, and flowering." The speaker also stressed that the expansion in the field of linguistic studies, archeology, ethnography, history, material and spiritual culture of the region are the main tasks set forth of the regional center.
Center Director noted that in the reporting year LRSC and Research Institute of Fruit and tea-growing of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed an agreement on joint research. Meanwhile, is keen the signing of a protocol of intent to conduct joint research with several research institutes in Georgia and Turkey. It was noted that, in particular were prepared cooperation agreements with research institutions of the republic and region, providing for joint research.
