Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On March 1, next bureau assembly of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences was held at the Presidium of ANAS.

In advance, Academician-Secretary of the Department, Academician Ahliman Amiraslanov informed on the issues of agenda.

By the decision of ANAS Presidium dated February 17, 2016,was announced competition for “Gold Medal of Azerbaijan Republic named after Nizami Ganjavi” for 2016.

Nominating can be put forward by the active and corresponding members of ANAS, scientific departments of ANAS, scientific councils of the research and higher educational institutions, scientific societies, as well as scientific councils under ministries and state committees.

Documents for nominators with the relevant documents should be submitted to the Department of Education and Science of ANAS until March 18, 2016. 

A.Amiraslanov commented that, also was adopted a resolution announced the competition for medals named after Nasreddin Tusi, Hasan bey Zardabi, Academician Uzeyir Hacibayov, Academician Mirasadulla Mirgasimov, Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev, Academician Musa Aliyev and Abbasgulu aga Bakikhanov of ANAS for 2016.

He remind that, medals are annually awarded for basic and applied research results, works, inventions, discoveries, as well as for special merits in the development of science.

At the meeting also discussed issues concerning new structure of the Academic Council of the Institute of Dendrology and the Central Botanical Garden, introduction of partial changes to the structure of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Microbiology, the celebration of 80th anniversary of the Institute of Zoology and others.

In summary, were considered number of staffing issues.
