Electronic assembly hall, ANAS Institute of Literature named after Nizami hosted the scientific session devoted to the 90th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress on March 3.

At the session Vice-President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the historical significance of the First Turkology Congress.

It was noted that the Congress, which was held in Baku from 26 February to 6 March 1926, played a crucial role in the cultural life of the Turkic peoples, including the Azerbaijan people.

The eight days of Turkology Congress was one of the great events of that time in which were discussed very important issues of common interest. Noted that, at the congress held for the first time in our country, along with Azerbaijan were attended delegations with expanded staff from Turkic countries: Turkey, Hungary, Tatarstan, Germany and other countries.

According to the format of authoritative event, issues concerning literature, stories, ethnographies, folklore, etc. have been presented as components of the Turkology look in a broad sense. At the same time, a number of the decisions were accepted, which have played an important role in development and life of the Turkic people. Among them it should be noted especially the decision in connection with transition to Latin. First Turkology Congress was a significant historical event in the implementation of national and spiritual unity in the cultural integration of the Turkic peoples.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli highly appreciated the Order of President of AR Ilham Aliyev "On holding the 90th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress" dated February 18, 2016. He noted that, this year will be marked the 90th anniversary of the First of Turkology Congress at the state level, which played a crucial role in the cultural life of the Turkic peoples in Baku, including the Azerbaijani people.

During the event following papers were delivered by Acting Director of the Institute of Linguistics, corresponding member of ANAS Mohsun Nagisoylu on "Challenges the First Turkology Congress and forthcoming tasks" and Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanitarian Sciences, Academician Teymur Karimli on "Honorary Delegate of the First Turkology Congress Ali bey Huseynzadeh". The report describes the history, meaning and congress activities.

It was emphasized that, Turkology Congress is a remarkable event, which laid the foundation for a new stage in the cultural integration of the Turkic peoples. At the seven-day an authoritative event was attended by 131 delegations from different countries, 17 meetings were held, discussed the main 7 issues and delivered 38 reports in total.

The questions submitted for discussion within congress concerning language, literatures and stories of the Turkic people and keep now the relevance.

It was noted that, our country will host a conference dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress in October of this year.
