Assembly of Academic Council of the Institute of Geography named after Acad. H.Aliyev was carried out.

At the event, director of this scientific venture Academician Ramiz Mammadov informed on the preparation of Atlas of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Noted that, President Ilham Aliyev signed Order on the publication of “Atlas of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan” dated March 2, 2016. Document approves structure of editorial board and program project. Academician Ramiz Mammadov was defined responsible secretary of the atlas. Main executors are Institutes of Geography, Geology and Geophysics.

It was mentioned that, preparations for publication of atlas has been commenced 2 years ago in Azerbaijan and was accelerated after relevant Order of the President Ilham Aliyev.

Azerbaijan is located in a zone, where there are constant destructive processes, that as a result of activation of the interaction of these factors every year increases the impact on ecological environment of such destructive events and processes, such as earthquakes, landslides, mudflows, floods, droughts etc., said scientist.

Stressing the need to create the atlas from this viewpoint, the academician spoke about the editorial board, executors, goals and challenges, maps list, methods and means of study, expected results and others.

P. Mammadov noted that, in the preparation of software projects were considered relevant atlases of a number of leading countries, the positive facts which were applied in the preparation of this project.

It is planned the invitation of foreign experts to the country due to provide training for usage their best practices.

It was noted that for preparation of the atlas it is necessary to make over 200 cards. The distribution was carried out on the areas provided for mapping.
