“National Strategy on the development of information society in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2014-2020” approved by the President Ilham Aliyev conducts the formation of e-health services, expanding the use of ICT in healthcare, medical staff and patients with the latest medical information through the use of ICT opportunities ensuring adherence to get to everyone in time, the development of accessible and effective health services as one of the top priorities.

To this end, provides for the implementation of complex of works on creation and development of national health care network, providing reliable, secure, broadband connection of medical personnel and medical facilities to the network, the development and maintenance of all age groups of e-health card, expanding the use of medical information system and its coordination with the system e-health, the establishment of medical resources for general use, as well as stimulate the increase of the ICT knowledge of health professionals. In order to perform tasks arising from the National Strategy such as approval of information society in the country, effective use of its opportunities by the state and citizens, to improve the quality of services in health, education and other areas need to conduct fundamental research in the relevant areas, analysis of the current status and existing problems, the study of international experience. In this respect, 1st Republican Scientific and Practical Conference "Interdisciplinary problems of e-health", which will be held May 24, with joint organizational support of the Presidium of ANAS, Azerbaijan Medical University and the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, is essential.

On April 19, Azerbaijan Medical University held a round table in preparation for the first conference devoted to the multidisciplinary challenges of e-health. The event was attended by the staff of the Azerbaijan Medical University, as well as scientists and experts of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS.

Speaking at the event, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, director of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, Academician Rasim Alguliyev first welcomed the participants of the event on behalf of the leadership of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

"At the present time as a result of the successful policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev in the widespread use of ICT in all areas of the country, is formed Electronic Azerbaijan, some of its segments are emerged (e-science, e-education, etc.). One of them is e-health", - said the scientist. He stressed that the study of scientific-theoretical problems of e-health is one of the priorities of the Azerbaijani science

R.Alguliyev noted that, e-medicine is one of the most promising sectors of the XXI century and the important achievements of the modern information society of leading countries are connected with this sphere.

There is a need to increase attention to the various problems of e-medicine as one of the main research areas of modern science in Azerbaijan. In this regard, Presidium of ANAS has decided to hold the first Republican scientific-practical conference dedicated to the problems of multidisciplinary e-health.

According to Academician, the main objective of the conference is to systematize studies in scientific and educational institutions operating in the field of medicine and ICT, joint cooperation for the solution of the existing problems, and report to the scientific community varied problems of e-medicine in the context of the information society. "The process of globalization in the world, the rapid development of information technology makes it necessary to use modern technology in medicine.From this point of view should be taken important steps towards the creation of expert systems, the teaching of medical knowledge, to bring the content of medical informatics in line with modern challenges, collecting, storing and carrying produced data analysis, identification of hidden knowledge, the creation of systems that provide consulting services".

R.Alguliyev noted that, the conference will discuss a number of important issues in 2 directions - medical problems related to ICT, and health problems created by ICT. He pointed out that, studies medical problems related to ICT, plays an important role in decision making and carrying out the correct treatment.

The scientist also stressed the importance of studying international experience in the field of ICT use in medicine, the use made by such influential international organizations as the World Health Organization, the UN declarations in this area. Academician called for the leading scientists and experts, the country's scientific institutions on relevant areas for joint cooperation.

He expressed confidence that, the conference will contribute to the solution of varied problems e-health.

Next, Rector of Azerbaijan Medical University, Professor Geray Geraybeyli in his speech spoke about the need for training and educational activities related to the use of ICT in medicine.

He stressed the importance of the conference in terms of determining the prospects of further cooperation, as well as attracting leading scientists and experts in the field of medicine and ICT.

Then were exchange of opinions on the topic, numerous questions were responded.
