Starts the assessment of seismic risk in Baku

ANAS Republican Seismological Survey Center (RSSC) starts the assessment of seismic risk in Baku city joint with Geodesy German Study Center.

In this respect, a meeting was held at the Monitoring Center of RSSC with representatives of Geodesy German Study Center – Christine Bismuth, Stefano Parolai, Kevin Fleming and Michael Hasle.

Director of the RSSC corresponding member of ANAS Gurban Yetirmishli put to the fore the study of seismic risk in Baku, noted the signing of understanding protocol between two bodies. He stated that, assessment project is intended to continue for two years.

Later on, deputy chief of Earthquake bureau of RSSC R. Karamova made a presentation on done works and researches carried out.

In a meeting German guests expressed their willingness in collaboration via Azerbaijani seismologists and joint projects, also told about study of seismic risk.

Representatives of Geodesy German Study Center met with Vice-President of ANAS Academician Ibrahim Guliyev as well.

Vice-President spoke about the necessity of exploring seismic risk in Baku city and stated his confidence in significance of joint collaboration.
