Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On October 20, a republican conference “Chemistry of macro molecules, organic synthesis and composite materials”, which devoted to 50th anniversary of the Institute of Polymer Materials, has taken place at the Sumgayit State University (SSU).

In advance, was featured an exhibition, reflecting academic achievements of the Institute at the foyer.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, scientists, who had exceptional merits in development of the institute, were commemorated for a minute of silence.

Academician-Secretary of the Division of Chemical Sciences and director of the Institute of Catalyze and Inorganic Chemistry, Academician Dilgam Taghiyev opened the plenary assembly and spoke about national leader Heydar Aliyev’s care and attention to the establishment and development of the institute. It was noted that, institute has established in 1966 as a affiliate of Institute of Petrochemical Sciences of Azerbaijan AS in Sumgayit and shifted into Chlorine Organic Synthesis Institute of Azerbaijan AS in 1979. Since 1991 up today operates as an Institute of Polymer Materials of ANAS.

Institute of Polymer Materials of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has passed a fruitful way during 50 years.

Acting director of the Institute corresponding member of ANAS Bakhtiyar Mammadov stated that training and improving the staff is one of the key tasks before society including the Institute. Also he briefly glanced at history of the institute, which established due to ensure rapid development of Sumgayit as an industrial city.

Rector of the Sumgayit State University Prof. Elkhan Huseynov congratulated the institute staff and scientists of the country on behalf of his staff and told about undeniable role of ANAS in preparation of highly qualified cadres and in scientific society of Azerbaijan.

Making speech on key directions and targets of reforms carried out in education system of the country, the rector dealt with cooperation between Institute of Polymer Materials and Sumgayit State University in the fields of sience, education and manufacturing.

Director of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes Academician Vagif Abbasov, Director of the Institute of Chemical Additives Academician Vafig Farzaliyev, head of Science and Education Office of Presidium Administration of ANAS Dr. Engineering Aminagha Sadigov told about half-century history of the institute and its multifaceted activities as well.

A group of institute associates have been awarded the Certificate of Merit of ANAS on the occasion of jubilee.

Note that, a scientific conference dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Polymer Materials continues on four sections. The conference to be lasted until October 21 will be listened over 130 lectures.
