Scientific-practical conference "The independence period of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in facts and figures", dedicated to the 25th anniversary of restoration of state independence, commented on the progress made in all areas of the autonomous republic.

The conference was held with the joint organizational support of the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS and the State Statistical Committee of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Opening the scientific conference, the Chairman of Nakhchivan Department of ANAS, Academician Ismayil Hajiyev noted that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed the Decree "On the 25th anniversary of the restoration of state independence" dated October 11, 2016. In accordance with the Decree by the Order of Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on October 13, 2016 approved the "Action Plan to be held in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, relating to the 25th anniversary of the restoration of state independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan”. The conference, which took place pursuant to Action Plan, aims to express the development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the period of independence in historical facts and figures.  

Spoke on "Socio-economic development of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in facts and figures," Chairman of the State Statistics Committee of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Kamal Jafarov dealt with fundamental principles of the socio-economic development traversed by this ancient land in the years of independence. Prior to the attention of the conference participants were informed that due to the conditions created in the period of independence, were provided productive employment, improved public welfare, expanded economics, and created new manufacturing and service sites in the autonomous republic. In 2015, in comparison with the first years of independence, the main indicator of the overall development - gross domestic product, an increase of 56 times, exceeded 2 billion 467 million manats. The volume of production of gross domestic product per capita increased by 42 times, was 5581 manats. During this period, the volume of industrial production increased by 100 times, investments made in fixed assets - 312 times, the gross agricultural product per worker - in 10 times, incomes of the population - 57 times income per capita - 43 times, the average monthly salary - 25 times.

Chairman of the Committee pointed out that if in the first years of our independence in the autonomous republic operated 56 industrial enterprises, at present, it increased by 8 times and reached 442. As a result of purposeful activities carried out over the past period, started functioning 386 industrial enterprises in Nakhchivan.

Chairman of the Committee, referring to the measures undertaken in the field of improvement of human settlements in the autonomous republic, improve the level of services provided to the population, said that in Nakhchivan opened 4 settlement and 133 villages.

Head of Department of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archaeology of ANAS Nakhchivan Department, PhD in History, Associate Professor Emin Shikhaliyev in its report on "The development of education in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (1991-2016 years)," reported that, since 1995, in the autonomous republic were built 129 schools in the 40 thousand by 182 pupils.

Including, repaired and renovated 52 secondary schools for 34 thousand pupils 24, 19 pre-school institutions, 23 children's music schools, 3 secondary special educational institutions. Speaking on the topic "Development of science in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on facts and figures," Chairman of the Nakhchivan branch of ANAS, Academician Ismayil Hajiyev noted that, in the autonomous republic from 1995 to 2015, 208 monographs have been published about 750 books and over 320 textbooks and manuals, published 18 thousand 342 articles.

Established by the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of socio-political, literary-artistic, scientific-journalistic magazine "Nakhchivan", "News" Nakhchivan Department of ANAS, "Poisk" of the Institute of Art, Language and Literature of ANAS Nakhchivan Department, "Proceedings" of Nakhchivan State University and magazine "News" Nakhchivan teachers Institute, along with access to an international code, have been included in the list of periodicals received the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of Azerbaijan Republic.

At the the direct support and care of the Supreme Assembly were conducted research on the study of history, monuments, folklore, literary and cultural environment, biodiversity, natural resources of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, published a number of books and monographs.
