Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

At the invitation of the Estonian Academy of Sciences (ANE) delegation led by president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Akif Alizadeh was visiting the country October 27-28.

According to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Estonia, the first day of the visit - on October 27 at the Tallinn Technical University, the delegation met with the Vice-Rector for Research of the institution Renno Vienthal. Azerbaijani delegation was organized special presentations on research projects conducted at the University in various fields.

On the same day at the Estonian Academy of Sciences was held a ceremony of signing the Agreement on cooperation between ANAS and EAS.

The document was signed by President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh and President EAS Tarmo Soomere.

The event was attended by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Estonia Murad Najafbayli members of EAS and other prominent scientists of the country.

In conclusion, Academician A. Alizadeh presented his Estonian counterpart a commemorative medal dedicated to the 70th anniversary of ANAS, informed the participants about the history, current research projects and invited the President of the Academy of EAS in Azerbaijan.

T.Soomere thanked his counterpart for the valuable gift, expressed his satisfaction with the meeting with Azerbaijani scientists and noted that over the past four years there has not been such a grand event.

Expressing the hope that the agreement will be successfully implemented, T.Soomere spoke about the activities and achievements of the structure headed by him, as well as the history of the building, which houses the EAS.

Then the event participants watched the building EAS, got acquainted with the educational process.

During the visit the Azerbaijani delegation also visited the Tallinn University, met with the Vice-Rector for Research of the University Niglas Catherine, and got acquainted with the activities of the institution.
