December 8, Director of the Institute of Manuscripts of the League of Arab States Dr. Faisal al-Hafyan visited the Institute of Oriental Studies named after Z.M.Bunyadov of ANAS. He first met with the director of the institute, corresponding member of ANAS Govhar Bakhshaliyeva.

G.Bakhshaliyeva speaking about scientific and cultural relations of Azerbaijan with the Arab countries, noted the important role of scientists-orientalists in strengthening these ties. Govhar Bakhshaliyeva spoke about the research conducted at the Institute of Oriental Studies in connection with the history, the economy of the Arab countries, the Arab language and literature as well as published books.

Next, Faisal al-Hafyan spoke about the history of the Institute of Manuscripts of the League of Arab States, which was established in 1946. Noting that the Institute is stored about 300 thousand manuscripts and manuscript copies, he gave information about them.

The sides discussed issues concerning the prospects of cooperation between the institutions and the mutual exchange of books.

Then the guests met with Arabists scientists working in the Institute of Oriental Studies. He informed about the activities of the Institute headed by him, as well as manuscripts stored there. In conclusion, Faisal al-Hafyan responded the questions of the scientists-Arabists.
