Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On December 15, the Central Scientific Library of ANAS hosted another seminar on the journal "Turkic".

The seminar was attended by Director of the Institute of Linguistics, corresponding member of ANAS Mohsen Nagysoylu, Professor of Chair of Turkology studies of Baku State University Elbrus Azizov, employees of the Institute of Linguistics, Head of the Department of Philology of Turkish and foreign countries in Baku Eurasian University Elmira Mammadova, employee of ANAS Institute of History, Zaur Hasanov, Executive Secretary of "Turkic" journal Elchin Ibrahimov and member student group "Sabah".

The event discussed the book by the Turkish scholar, Professor Ahmad Bijan Erjilasun "From the very beginning of the twentieth century - the history of the Turkic language".

First, the executive secretary of of the journal "Turkic" Elchin Ibrahimov told the participants of the seminar. He said that the main purpose of the seminar is to discuss with the participation of outstanding achievements and challenges turkologists Turkology, providing young turkologists living legends of this branch of science, the promotion of closer links with other branches of science, etc.

The next speaker, corresponding member of ANAS M.Nagysoylu informed about the history and current state of the "Turkic" magazine and noted that the magazine after the relevant decree of the Presidium of ANAS further expanded its membership.

M.Nagisoylu stressed that, after the appointment of Academician Kamal Abdullah as a chief editor had made major changes in the headings and articles published here.

Then, was delivered report devoted to the book "From the very beginning of the twentieth century - the history of the Turkic language" by Professor Elbrus Azizov. The scientist spoke about the chapters "The place of Turkic languages among the languages of the world", "Altai languages Theory", "Theory of families and languages" and etc. The speaker also informed the participants about the next chapters of the book workshop.
