On February 22, Institute of Oriental Studies named after Academician Ziya Bunyadov commemorated the memory of Khojaly victims.
Director of the institute, corresponding member of ANAS Govhar Bakhshaliyeva spoke of heavy consequences of Khojaly tragedy and stated that, only after national leader Heydar Aliyev’s return to the power for the second time, Milli Majlis legally and politically estimated these events. She spoke about the proclamations, adopted by the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Conference in support of the international campaign "Justice for Khojaly", initiated by the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva.
At the event, Head of the Department of Religion and Social Thought of the institute, PhD in Philosophy Esmeralda Hasanova, head of the Department of Arabic Philology, Doctor of Philological sciences Vilayat Jafarov, Head of the Department of South Azerbaijan, PhD in History Samad Bayramzade, Head of the Department of Central Asian countries, Doctor of Economics Dunyamali Veliyev and others called Khojaly tragedy as the biggest injustice against humanity. They expressed confidence that the perpetrators of crimes against humanity will not go unpunished.
