Massacre of the Azerbaijanis is the most tragic page in the history of the 20th century

A ceremony of commemoration was held at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS on the occasion of the Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis on March 31.

Director of the Institute, Doctor of historical sciences, Professor Maisa Rahimova told about the March genocide. March 1918 genocide was an integral part of the policy of ethnic cleansing of Armenians infected with xenophobia, carried out in 1914 in the Ottoman Empire, in the autumn of 1917 in the vicinity of Lake Urmia of modern Iran and other region, was noted.

Recalling the massacres committed in Baku, Shamakhi, Guba, Karabakh, Western Azerbaijan and other regions in March 1918, M.Rahimova brought to the attention of the participants of the event that over the course of three days Armenians brutally killed thousands of our compatriots, old people, women and children.

It was noted that as a result of the signing by the national leader Heydar Aliyev of the Decree "On the Genocide of Azerbaijanis" of March 26, 1998, the genocide of Azerbaijanis was given a legal and political assessment. At present, this policy is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.

Then the head of the expedition of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, the researcher of the institute, PhD in history Gahraman Agayev, who conducted the research at the Guba burial site in detail informed about the conducted researches.

Speakers at the event told about the genocides and insidious and aggressive plans of Armenians, carried out against our people.
