At the Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS, with the organizational support of this structure, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the Union of Writers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, a scientific conference dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the prominent scientist -folklorist Professor Muhammadhuseyn Tahmasib was held.

At the event, the chairman of the Branch, Academician Ismayil Hajiyev spoke about the life and work of a prominent scientist, his merits in the field of folklore. He noted that Professor M.Tahmasib, who had great merit in systematization, collection and creation of the school of folklore in Azerbaijan, was born on April 12, 1907 in the city of Nakhchivan.

It was noted that scientific research carried out by scientists is still a valuable source for literary criticism. Those who have great merits in the study of oral folk art by a scientist-folklorist have written and published research works of various genres. At the same time, he carried out serious work in the field of collecting our folk epics.

It was brought to the attention that under the leadership of Professor M.Tahmasib different versions of our dastans were recorded and published in the form of a five-volume book titled "Azerbaijan Dastans". Based on his script, "The Mystery of One Fortress," "Can I Forgive It?", The films of the same name were shot, fairy-tales-plays "Bahar", "Lion's Lair", "Blooming Dreams" and others were successfully staged in theatrical scenes.

Academician I. Hajiyev also reported on the collection of articles "Mamadhuseyin Tahmasib: Destiny and Creativity", the publication of which is envisaged by the Branch this year.
