Sheki with the participation of representatives of foreign countries hosted the VIII International Conference of the Association for Silkworming of the Countries of the Black Sea and Caspian Seas and Central Asia (BACSA) on "Climate Change and Chemical Reagents: New Search in Silkworming" on April 2-7, 2017.
44 scientists and specialists in the field of tutoring, sericulture and cocoon breeding from 10 countries took part in the conference organized by the Sheki Regional Scientific Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and the BACSA conference.
At the event, they exchanged views on such topics as "Prospects for the development of sericulture in the region", "Impact of climate change on silkworm breeding in Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia", "Innovative approach to the development of sericulture in Azerbaijan", "The influence of biologically active additives on productivity Silkworm and the quality of the cocoon".
Within the framework of the conference the participants of the event got acquainted with the projects implemented at the plant located in the Gakh region. And then they visited historical and cultural monuments on the territory of Zagatala region.
The guests who visited the Ipek OJSC production sites in the city of Sheki were informed that great success had been achieved in this city throughout the history of silkworm breeding. Only in 1980, the area of mulberry gardens in Sheki was brought to 1,300 hectares, and the number of cocoons produced was about 400 tons.
They also paid a visit to the Sheki-Ipek store, where they sold products manufactured in the company, got acquainted with silk carpets, blankets, kelagai and other household products.
Within the framework of the conference, the guests also got acquainted with material and cultural exhibits in the Palace of Sheki Khans and the Museum of History and Local History. Their great interest was caused by the Museum of Archeology and Ethnography "Labyrinth" in the village of Fazil, Sheki.
At the end of the event, a commemorative photograph was made; the guests were awarded certificates and gifts.
