Institute of Archeology and Ethnography held an event on monetary turnover of the Karabakh khanate

Next meeting of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography was held.

The head Department of Stone Age Archeology, Dr. History Asadulla Jafarov informed about the ancient settlements of the Stone Age and the Bronze Age discovered in Karabakh, rare artifacts of the ancient period and the Middle Ages.

Then Head of the Numismatics Department of the Institute, Ph.D. in History Akif Guliyev made a report on the "Money Turnover of the Karabakh Khanate", in which he noted that in the early periods the money of neighboring states was used in the Karabakh Khanate, and then the silver coin "Panahabad" , Similar to the coins of the Ottoman Sultan.

A.Guliyev said that in the money turnover of the Karabakh khanate 2 types of silver coins "panahabadi" and 1 species - "sahibkiran", 2 kinds of copper coins "fulus" and 1 species - "basti" dominated. The last coins in the Karabakh khanate were minted in 1822.

The report aroused the interest of the seminar participants and responded questions.
